MEDIATOR CALLS ONE-WEEK RECESS IN WEST COAST PORTS TALKS
Federal Mediation and Conciliation Provider director Peter J. Hurtgen has adjourned U.S. West Coast ports contract negotiations Tuesday for one week to permit port employers to re-evaluate prices and knowledge from its contributors on problems associated with pension improvements for staff.
Talks between the Pacific Maritime Affiliation, which represents port employers, and the Global Longshore and Warehouse Union will resume Nov. 13.
‘Whilst the ILWU is ready to proceed with negotiations, and our talks have proceeded in just right religion, control has asked extra time to judge expected technology-based operational financial savings and pension investment prices into years yet to come,’ Hurtgen mentioned Tuesday in a remark.
